THE REVIEW:
Going into this movie, I was thinking that it wasn’t going to be good. The reason for this is because the cartoon was funny, but not that funny. I think that they tried too much to try to follow the success that “Alvin and the Chipmunks” got and tried to make it just as good. I wouldn’t say that I hated it though. For a parent, you are going to love it for your kids because they are going to laugh throughout the entire movie. I know that my child did. There are many things in the movie where I was tired of the entire storyline and that is mainly because of the logline. I didn’t particularly like the fact that they used “Smurf” to cover up obvious places where there would be a swear word, but maybe that is because of my dirty mind. I am not a prude when it comes to things of that nature, but for a children’s movie, I was kind of offended. Such a line was “That is so smurfing cool!” Seriously? However, I have to say that my child loved it and her review on it is that it was amazing and the best movie ever.
The cast was good. Katy Perry as Smerfet was really good. I think for all men who grew up with Smerfet have always had a soft spot for her. The entire movie was strange for me, but I did like Hank Azaria in it. The movie wasn’t that great, but the 3D was “actually” 3D. If you try to take a date to this movie, you both are not going to have fun. However, if you have a kid with you, you will be able to laugh along with it. Kids always make movies fun! This is especially when they are lame to watch. This is because of their faces. Parents know this.
OVERALL RATING:
You have to see it to believe it. It all depends on your sense of humor. You are going to laugh if you pay attention to the jokes. It is definitely particularly aimed at the children market and they are definitely going to love it. Take one for the team and go see it with your kids. They will thank you for the popcorn and the good movie. And even if the movie is lame, there is always the Popcorn and Nachos!
